Programs & Services
As a tribal government, the Native Village of Emmonak offers several programs services to tribal citizens. To ensure maximum capacity, some programs are offered in partnership with our tribal partner the Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP).
Only Emmonak Tribal members are eligible to participate in the tribe’s programs and services. Applications for each service is available on the MyEmmonak portal.
The Enrollment program is responsible for enrolling eligible individuals into the Native Village of Emmonak. Any individual who is a descendant of an Emmonak Tribal Member may apply for enrollment. The Tribal Council reviews the Enrollment applications during Regular Board meetings in Executive Session. In order to apply, applicants must submit the following documents with their application:



The Enrollment Department keeps records of relinquished, deceased, and adoption files and aids is available to assist with the completion of Tribal Adoption paperwork.
Limited general assistance funding is available each year. Funding can be used for emergency household items including food, heating oil, and other necessities. At this time, funding for this program has been exhausted and new applications are not being accepted.
IGAP is an environmental grant program. It provides environmental education and capacity building by working with community members and elders to gather traditional knowledge, identify concerns, and address issues within the community to develop assessments as well as intermediate and long-term environmental outcomes. Every other year in early summer, EMK hosts a community clean-up that includes gifts and prizes. EMK will host the clean-up in 2025.
The Burial Assistance benefit is available to assist families with burial costs of any Tribal Citizen. The maximum benefit amount is $1,500 for general expenses and $500 for food-related expenses as follows:

Immediate family members eligible to apply include spouses, siblings, and children. Burial assistance per family may only be requested once per calendar year.
The Tribal Court promotes tribal sovereignty by serving Emmonak Tribal Citizens within our own tribal court system. Under jurisdiction provided by the Indian Child Welfare Act, the Court primarily presides over cases brought forth by the Office of Children’s Services to review and rule on child protective actions on minor Tribal Citizens.
Higher education funding is available for Tribal Citizens pursuing higher education at an accredited college or university. Full-time students are eligible to receive up to $2,000 per academic year, and part-time students up to $1,000 per academic year. The maximum length of funding for a bachelor’s degree is 10 semesters (or five years).

To receive continued funding, students are required to remain in good standing and must submit to EMK their final grades and list of registered classes to receive continued funding each semester.

This program is offered through the Tribal Jobs Center operated by AVCP. Emmonak tribal members are eligible for services.
EMK’s gaming activities include pull-tab sales and concessions. Operating hours are generally Monday through Friday from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
